This was taken on the day of our 1st meeting after 45 years on the weekend after our 45th wedding anniversary with me and Chantal in the back row and Monique and Maureen in front.
When stationed in Fontainebleau we lived in a flat and Monique’s parents where the concierge this is how we first met and after returning to the UK and various postings we lost contact except for once in about 1965/6 when Chantal stayed with us at RAF Henlow for a few days until now thanks to the Fontainebleau Veterans when a friend gave Monique a copy of the news sheet and decided that was us in the photo and told Chantal to make contact after finding our telephone number. We made arrangements to meet and had a wonderful day going over old photographs and swapping good memories of times so long ago which didn’t take long to come flooding back. The time flew by we didn’t leave till 8.30pm to return home but arrangements have been made to return again now that we know we are only an hour away.
Thanks to you and the magazine news letter of Fontainebleau Veterans Association which I discovered by chance made it all happen. Thank you also to Monique and Chantal for your hospitality and a wonderful day.
Maureen and Brian Bursell.
